Mix for Beginners


It's a perfect mix of learning Foxtrot & Rumba

Foxtrot - is a smooth, progressive dance characterized by long, continuous flowing movements across the dance floor. Developed in the 1910's, the Foxtrot reached its height of popularity in the 1930's, and remains practiced today. A beautiful and romantic dance, the Foxtrot is composed of fairly simple walking steps and side steps. The dance combines slow steps, which use two beats of music, and quick steps, which use one beat of music. The footwork timing is usually "slow, quick, quick" or "slow, slow, quick, quick." The Foxtrot must be danced very smoothly, with no jerking of the body… think about the smooth dancing of Fred Astaire & Ginger Rogers. Because of its smoothness, it is often referred to as the Rolls Royce of the Ballroom dances. Once you learn the Foxtrot, you really feel like a dancer.

Rumba - originates back to Cuba in the late 19th century. It is a slow, serious, and romantic dance with flirtation between the partners. American Style Rumba is commonly danced in the United States, with box-like basic figures. The Rumba spotlights the lady's rhythmic body movements and hip actions resulting in intense, almost steamy, scenes of passion. This dance of love is one of the most popular Latin dances and is seen around the world at nightclubs, parties, weddings and dance competitions. Simple and versatile for the beginner while offering a fun challenge to the competitor, it is no wonder Rumba, with it’s seductive rhythm, is one of the most popular dances we teach.

Both singles and couples are welcome to attend. We rotate partners throughout the class to give everyone the opportunity to dance with different partners and make new friends.

No prior dance experience necessary. No partner required.
